Giants Beat Rockies In Round 1 Of Wild Card Battle

KA-POW! You were just Affeldted, Helton! SUCK IT!!!
Final Score:
Giants – 6
Rockies – 3
I’m not sure what was more entertaining. The fact that the Giants proved me totally wrong by not only winning a huge game on the road, but, the fact they scored 6 runs or Duane Kuiper’s hilarious botched homerun call. Aaron Rowand is still waiting for his apology. I’ve never heard a home run call sound like such a eulogy. When is Rowand’s funeral?
Overall though, as important as the game was and as nice as it was to win, I’m not sure I’ve went through a 3-run win that felt more like a 2-run loss before. The continued inability to get a runner in from 3rd with less than two outs is absurd. ABSURD. The RISP fail is intense.
Speaking of intense fail, I say hello to Fred Lewis. Yes, I know the guy has a lot of “potential” – he’s had it for years, but he continues the epic fail almost every time he’s on the field. And the one major asset he has, speed, he never utilizes. It’s like watching a retarded mouse in a maze when he’s on the base path. All the while, Nasty Nate Schierholtz has to wonder why he continues to ride the pine every other game. I mean, it’s not like he continually plays excellent defense, gets hits, drives in runs – oh wait – he does? Well shit.
Also – a major big up to Jeremy Affeldt for his destroying of Todd Helton with the bases loaded last night in the 7th inning, which resulted in an inning ending double play. Despite the eventual run he did give up, that was a game saver. Of course, Ricky Vaughn Brian Wilson did his best to make it way too interesting. Swear to God he just needs to change his number to 3-2 since it’s impossible for him to avoid that pitching count.
Joe Martinez takes on the surprising De La Rosa today at 5:10 Pacific, in hopes to draw even with the Rockies for the Wild Card lead. And Fred Lewis will somehow find his way into the lineup to piss me off even more. Bastard.
