Giants claim long time thorn in side, Trevor Hoffman off waivers
There were rumors yesterday that the Giants actually claimed Cubs starter Rich Harden off waivers, but, it looks like it was actually the all-time saves leader Trevor Hoffman who they grabbed.
The Giants, along with every other team could use some help in the bullpen, so claiming Hoffman wasn’t a bad idea at all but it’s expected the Brewers are going to set a pretty high price on Hoffman. With that said, the Giants may have little interest in working out a deal for Hoffman as the move might have simply been a block so the Rockies and Dodgers couldn’t claim Hoffman, both of which are in serious need of late inning bullpen help.
