Well, in all fairness, this was a move they pretty much had to make considering the amount they gave up, only to watch Freddy limp through the final two months of the season only playing in a handful of games.
The Giants signed Sanchez to a two year deal worth $12 million dollars this afternoon, which voids his $8.1 million dollar contract option for this season.
All in all, it’s not a horrible deal despite the baseball world consensus that most second baseman begin to decline at around 30 or 31 (Sanchez will be 32 come Spring Training). Then again, it’s pretty [...]

If you followed the A’s back in the 80’s, you’ll know how many Athletic’s had a hard time with Carney Lansford unique personality. Apparently, many current San Francisco Giants did as well as Lansford was fired as the Giants hitting coach last night. Henry Schulman of SFGate.com reported this after the firing:

No, we never wanted to give you a chance. But, you won us over. You always won everybody over. And today we say goodbye and thank you. Thank you for being a true Giant.
I remember it all started in Montreal as you came in as a defensive replacement in 1995, with you peaking in 2001 and 2002. You left for a few years, but you never really left. As [...]
Diamondbacks – 3
Giants – 7
Wow. What a weird, crazy, somber, and exciting day for all Giant fans as they completed their 2009 home schedule by sweeping the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants exceeded a lot of expectations this year, staying in the playoff race until only 4 games remained in the season and provided a season we fans have lacked for quite some time.
But as to todays game…I haven’t experienced a game like that for a while. We watched what could possibly not only be the last pitch for Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson in a Giants uniform, we might [...]
Just mentioning an update passed along via radio network KNBR, General Manager Brian Sabean and Manager Bruce Bochy will return next season.
