Giants Fire Hitting Coach Carney Lansford

If you followed the A’s back in the 80’s, you’ll know how many Athletic’s had a hard time with Carney Lansford unique personality. Apparently, many current San Francisco Giants did as well as Lansford was fired as the Giants hitting coach last night. Henry Schulman of SFGate.com reported this after the firing:

One of the things I’d been hearing late in the season was that some of the Giants chafed at Lansford’s “red-ass” style, although Bochy said that had nothing to do with his firing.

The Giants are looking into Hensley Meulens, the Giants’ Triple-A hitting coach as a replacement as well as Texas Rangers hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo who has decided to leave the Rangers after a long time with the team. There are also small rumors wirling around that the Giants are considering Will Clark as the hitting coach.
We’ll see in a few weeks what happens.
