Giants Close To Signing DeRosa

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Sources close to the Giants and Mark DeRosa both are claiming that the two sides are very close on a 2 year, 12 million dollar deal. FoxSports has more on the information, which you can find here.
DeRosa had an amazing start to the season last year in Cleveland but struggled later in the year, especially after he was traded mid-season to the St. Louis Cardinals. Injuries really plauged him down the stretch, which dropped his numbers – especially the average.
For 6 million a year…saving Pablo the wear and tear at 3B, and for providing a steady bat and glove…you can’t [...]

Giants Offer Multiple Players Deals

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Just a quick note today guys, but, it’s being reported by Giants ace beat writer Andrew Baggardly that the Giants have offered multiple players contracts, though, the names aren’t being released at this point as the players are still awaiting other offers.
However, Baggardly does believe one of the offers to be to 3b Mark DeRosa. Other sources are saying the Giants have also offered contracts to OF Mr. Lisa Dergan, otherwise known as Scott Podsednik as well as 1b Nick Johnson.
One would have to believe the Giants would pull the offer of Johnson or DeRosa once one agreed to terms [...]

Giants Looking At Kevin Kouzmanoff?

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Players, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

Per Bob Nightengale:
The SF Giants are talking to the Padres about 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff, but SD wants more than OF Fred Lewis and IF Kevin Frandsen
Um, gag me. Quickly. Or shoot me. Whatever you do, just make sure you do it quickly so I don’t have to watch this.
I mean, living in San Diego, I see Kevin plenty enough as it is already and he makes me wish my eyes would fill with blood and then just burst out of my head.
Don’t get me wrong…Ryan Garko, well, stinks…but this is like going from swine flu to AIDS. Please, somebody, anybody…stop [...]

Brad Penny Signs With The Cardinals

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

Is it bad for me to wish bad on him? He was an ass in LA. He was an ass in Boston. And really, he was an ass in San Francisco even though he played for us. He rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, always has, and always will…but the Giants are no stranger to unique personalities.
Penny signed a one year, 7.5 million dollar offer with incentives that could raise the final contract number up to almost 9 million.
In other news, Giants general manager Brian Sabean revealed Monday that Pablo Sandoval will bat cleanup for the club in [...]

Penny went 4-1 with a 2.59 ERA in 6 starts for our Giants after he was signed as a free agent late in the season. Uribe, a career .257 hitter, clubbed 16 homeruns while hitting .290 going into the final day of [...]

Giant Rumors – 12/2

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

It’s been pretty quiet in the land of the Giants since the whole Lincecum Cy Weed Gate situation, but, things are starting to heat up this December. Here are some rumors to fuel your hot stove report:
Mets ‘heavy favorite’ to sign Molina – SI.com’s Jon Heyman believes the Mets are the “heavy favorite” to sign free agent catcher Bengie Molina this offseason after the Giants declined to offer Bengie arbitration. That will result in the Mets not having to give the Giants a draft pick if they do sign him.
Cubs, Giants interested in Betancourt – This rumor is starting to [...]
