Giants Sign Tim Lincecum – Avoid Arbitration

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: News & Notes, Players, Popular | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Well hop skippity and jump, we’ve got excellent news coming in this Friday morning – Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants have avoided arbitration (as many suspected) and agreed to a two year deal worth about 23 million dollars.
The deal breaks down like this: $8 million in 2010, $13 million in 2011 and a $2 million signing bonus, paid out at a million a year.
It’s a bit odd in structure, but, if it works for the Giants and Tim – it works for us.

With hopes of avoiding a arbitration case, a major league source tells John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle that the Giants have offered Tim Lincecum a three-year, $37 million contract.
The proposed contract would includes annual salaries of $9.5 million, $12.5 million and $15 million, according to the report. Shea writes that the Lincecum camp countered with a proposal greater than $40 million. Assistant general manager Bobby Evans wouldn’t confirm or deny the offer, and while he acknowledged that talks are “ongoing,” he said that he hasn’t spoken with Lincecum’s people in 72 [...]

News & Notes – Feb 3

It appears that Tiny Tim and the Giants are going to be going to arbiration as the two sides could not come to an agreement on his salary. Lincecum never budged from his requested 13 million dollar salary and the Giants never budged from their 8 million dollar offer. It’s a shame the two couldn’t come to an agreement, but, Lincecum does deserve the money…considering all. But I’d like to think that an extra 5 million or so could get a semi decent player in the black and orange…
In other news, an ex-fucking Dodger, Guillermo Mota was signed to a [...]

Giants Sign Byung-Hyun Kim – You Can Barf Now

AUTHOR: Bryan | IN: News & Notes, Players, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

So I lied – I guess the Giants weren’t done JUST yet when it came to bringing in top flight free agents – and let me tell you, [sarcasm] today’s news does NOT disappoint. [/sarcasm]
As if the Giants hadn’t scrapped the bottom of the free agent barrel enough, today we’re greeted with the news that the Giants have signed Byung-Hyun Kim to a minor league contract which does guarantee a spot in Spring Training. Yep, the same Kim who was last seen in 2008 during the Pittsburgh Pirates spring training, who, ironically enough was cut because even the Pirates felt [...]
