ARRIS International (NASDAQ:ARRS) said Tuesday morning it was selected by izzi Telecom and Eastlink to provide its ME-7000 converged video compression platform. The company said izzi Telecom deployed the platform in its cable TV operation in Mexico to deliver new HDTV programming to its subscribers and increase bandwidth efficiency. Eastlink will use the platform to offer more channels to its Canadian cable TV subscribers and possibly reduce its operating expenses over time, said Eastlink chief technology officer Jim Fitzgerald. Eastlink will be the first Canadian operator to deply the ME-7000.
