Salesforce.com, Inc. (NYSE:CRM) to buy Tableau Software Inc. (NYSE:DATA) according to leaked documents, which contained information about potential acquisitions that Salesforce was interested in making.
The internal presentation report, which allegedly was disclosed by the Salesforce director, and former security of state Colin Powell, reported that the list included a total of 14-companies. These companies extend to Adobe Systems Incorporated (NASDAQ:ADBE), Demandware Inc (NYSE:DWRE), HubSpot Inc (NYSE:HUBS), as well as a few others.
However surprisingly, unlike the clear evidence of Salesforce to buy Tableau. There was no mention of Salesforce’s interest in the acquisition of the social media giant Twitter (NYSE:TWTR). Other relevant businesses on the list include LinkedIn Corp (NYSE:LNKD), Tableau, and Netsuite Inc (NYSE:N).
Tableau stock after the announcement of the intention of Salesforce to buy Tableau
Following the list being found by Wall Street Journal shares for Tableau rose rapidly by 7.3 percent. This is not the first time that Tableau has found itself in the firing sights of a potential acquisition. The current market value for Tableau is $3.8 billion.
The original list, which included Tableau as an example for the potential acquisition was produced in May. Where the company explained the acquisition as “In progress.”
Further companies that were included in the list
The Salesforce acquisition list, also allegedly consisted of numerous small-enterprise companies that have already been acquired. This follows in the flush of consolidation that has swept over the technological industry.
An example of a company that Salesforce lost to a competitor, would be LinkedIn. It was listed on Salesforce listings, however, the tech giant Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for $26.2 billion.
It was also announced that another company Netsuite, is already undergoing the procedure to be acquired by Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL) for a total merger value of $9.3 billion. With all these numbers, it remains uncertain if the Salesforce to buy Tableau idea will happen, nor how much the deal will be valued for.
