The Sims 4 Release Date Postponed, But Worth It For Superior Gameplay Over The Sims 3

May 14, 2014 - By Jan Rainey

Popular life simulator game the Sims, will now see its fourth instalment hit shelves in autumn 2014. The specific release date however has not been confirmed by EA.

The flagship PC and Mac versions were initially slated for release at the beginning of the year, but have been postponed so further work can be completed. Though fans will have been disappointed, it’s a fair trade-off to ensure that the most ambitious title to date is free of bugs and glitches.

The creators have kept relatively tight lipped about the content of the game, but have confirmed it will be featured at June’s E3 event, at the LA Convention Center.

An early trailer gave a brief glimpse at the gameplay and how it is different from The Sims 3. It includes a revamped “Create-A-Sim” studio, which features an “intuitive” click and drag body morphing tool, allowing the player to create truly unique and fine-tuned sims.

Players can then select from a range of voices, personalities, and the way their sim will move.

Build mode also follows this click and drag technique, and whole rooms (including their interiors) can be moved to completely redesign houses in seconds.

There is also a new levelling system that gives players something to work towards beyond their own imagination. At each stage they are rewarded with special items and buildings.

One particularly encouraging piece of info, is that the game is designed to scale down for lower spec PCs, allowing everyone to enjoy the fun.
